Unri Opens Three College Entrance Paths

unri.ac.id The University of Riau (Unri) for the 2019 academic year has opened three higher education entrances, namely SNMPTN, SBMPTN and the Mandiri pathway. This was said by the Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. M. Nur Mustafa on the sidelines of the Unri New Student Admission Socialization in Batam, Thursday (14/2).

The socialization itself was carried out simultaneously in all districts/cities in Riau Province and Riau Islands. The Chancellor, all Unri leaders, faculty leaders and staff went to the regions to attract applicants through schools. Unri Chancellor Prof. Dr. Aras Mulyadi DEA went to Tanjungpinang, Prof. M. Nur Mustafa to Batam, Vice Rector II Prof. Sujianto to Tembilahan, Vice Rector III Prof. Dr. Iwantono to Karimun, and Vice Rector IV Prof Syaiful Bahri went to Dumai.

According to Prof. Dr. M Nur Mustafa MPd, the three pathways are respectively the SNMPTN (national selection for state university admission), the SBMPTN (joint selection for admission to state universities), and the Independent pathway. The quota for SNMPTN admission is a minimum of 30 percent, a minimum of 40 percent for SBMPTN, and a maximum of 30 percent for Mandiri.

Prospective students for the SNMPTN Path are selected from high school graduates or equivalent, graduating in the last three years based on report cards. The quota for registrants for each school is limited to 40 percent of the best students performing at schools with A accreditation. For schools with B accreditation, the quota is 25 percent and C accreditation is five percent. The selection is carried out by each school until February 16, 2019. Furthermore, their data is sent to the Higher Education Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT) in Jakarta which was newly formed this year. Announcement of selection results on March 23, 2019.

Prospective students are limited to only choosing two study programs at the same or different universities. It is recommended that the two choices are not cross-interested, but only one type of specialization (IPA or IPS). At Unri, the admission quota for this pathway is at least 20 percent of the total quota of around 6,500 students. Announcement of the results of the SNMPTN selection on March 23, 2019. And those who pass this route may not participate in the SBMPTN selection.

The SBMPTN pathway begins with UTBK (computer-based written exam). The UTBK online registration schedule is March 1 – April 1, 2019. The range for the UTBK exam is April 13 – May 26, 2019. The UTBK test consists of a scholastic potential test (TPS) and an academic competency test (TKA). Participants may take the test a maximum of two test groups, namely (1) UTBK for the Science and Technology group and/or the Soshum group; or (2) Saintek twice; or (3) the Soshum group twice. Either at one or two state universities. Science group test materials include scientific mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. Meanwhile, Soshum material covers Soshum mathematics, geography, history, sociology and economics.

The committee provides 10 days of testing, ie twice per day in the period from April 13 to May 26. That is every Saturday and Sunday. The UTBK announcement is 10 days after the test through the online system. For those who pass, may register for the SBMPTN selection on 10-24 June 2019 by bringing the UTBK results. There are no more written exams for this path. Selection is only based on UTBK results. The announcement of the SBMPTN selection results is July 9, 2019.

Meanwhile, the 2019 Unri Mandiri path selection consists of four types, each PBUD (search for regional superior seeds) and PBM (search for talents and interests), Community Development, Regional Government Cooperation, and Transfer of D3 to S1. The maximum acceptance quota is 30 percent of the total admissions for Unri students this year. PBUD and PBM admissions are only for students from Riau and Riau Islands who are selected through schools. The faculties available are FISIP, Agriculture, MIPA, FKIP, Business Economics, Law, and Engineering. Especially for the Faculty of Fisheries may come from all provinces in Sumatra, Banten and West Kalimantan. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing is only for candidates from Riau.

PBM students must prove a certificate at the provincial level for sports, art or memorizing the Qur'an at least 10 juz they have ever achieved. Registration from the school has started March 1, graduation announcements July 16, and re-registration July 17-20 2019.

The Community Development Pathway, is an entry route with special institutional development donations (SPI). In addition to being charged a single tuition fee, they also pay for institutional development contributions with different amounts for each faculty. Tuition fees vary between IDR 3,150,000 (D3 Taxation) - IDR 23,435,000 (Medicine) per semester with an average of around IDR 4.5 million.

Participants may be from all over Indonesia, except for the Faculty of Engineering, Medicine, Business Economics, FKIP, and Law. The last-mentioned faculties were recruited from the rest of the PBUD registrants. Selection is carried out using a print-based written exam (UTBC) system, and not a computer. The test material follows the UTBK system. Online registration starts March 1, UTBC exam July 23, and graduation announcement July 26, 2019.
