Unrinews. Riau University (Unri), through the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), held the 16th International Conference of Lesson Study (ICLS) on Monday, September 15, 9. This international event was officially opened by the Rector of Unri, represented by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems, Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, MPhil.
In his remarks, Sofyan expressed his high appreciation and emphasized the importance of Lesson Study as an approach to improving the quality of education.
"This year's conference theme, 'Transforming Education through Lesson Study: Building Sustainable Learning Communities in the Digital Era,' is highly relevant to today's educational challenges. In the digital age, we are required to innovate and collaborate in building sustainable learning," he said.
This international conference featured speakers from various countries, including Prof. Carl Winslow (Denmark), Prof. Manabu Sato (Gakushuin University, Japan), Naomi Takasawa (Japan), Rie (Japan), and Dr. Muhammad Syawal Amran (Malaysia). Also present were national figures in the development of Lesson Study, such as Arif Hidayat MSi PhD Ed, Prof. Dr. rer nat Asep Supriatna MSi, and Sumar Hendayana PhD from the Indonesian University of Education.
The 16th ICLS event was attended by hundreds of participants from various universities in Indonesia, as well as international participants from Malaysia and other countries. This scientific forum served as a strategic platform for sharing experiences, research, and best practices in implementing Lesson Study, while also strengthening cross-border academic collaboration networks.
