unri.AC ID In order to strengthen the role and function of the Community Service Program (KKN) at the University of Riau (Unri), the Head of the Unri Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), Prof. Dr. Almasdi Syahza SE MP, said that in order to align the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education with the needs of the community, it is necessary to strengthen the concept of implementing KKN, Monday (1/4/2019) at the Bina Widya Unri Campus, Pekanbaru.
"Unri should respond to the various changes occurring in society in a relevant manner. These changes should inform academic responses to ensure education is appropriate and impactful," Almasdi said.
Almasdi further stated that the implementation of Community Service Programs (KKN) is still focused on grades. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen community service performance, as student work programs have not yet been recorded in the community service performance report.
"This is the important role of the DPL (Field Supervisor) taskNETWORK) to encourage students to provide sustainable programs for the progress and economic development of the community," explained Almasdi.
Furthermore, Almasdi explained, the DPL, along with the KKN participants, need to map the potential and actual conditions in the villages where the KKN is being conducted. In addition to developing programs and work concepts, students also share various ideas related to village development through reports prepared after the KKN is completed.
Furthermore, the Head of LPPM encouraged lecturers engaged in community service activities to become effective Community Service Program (KKN) DPLs. The programs and concepts implemented link scientific fields and sustainability for the advancement and economic development of the community.
Therefore, Almasdi also frequently holds meetings with the Unri Community Service Program (KKN) DPL. In these meetings, Almasdi emphasized the importance of KKN Unri activities, which need to focus on outcomes. These outcomes include maximizing community service performance. Furthermore, it is also necessary to document the work programs of KKN students in a community service performance report for publication.
"If lecturers already have programs and concepts, they're bound to be connected to the community. If students can be integrated there, the programs and concepts will become clearer," he said. (wendi. photo: documentation) ***
