The Chancellor of the University of Riau (Unri) Prof. Dr. Ir Aras Mulyadi DEA, said this postponement was a step to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and follow up on the Circular Letter of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3 of 2020 concerning the Prevention of Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) in Units. Education.

"Following up on the Ministerial Circular on the prevention of Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) in the Education Unit and taking into account the results of a joint meeting with all elements of the leadership ranks within Unri, Unri issued Circular Letter Number 2/UN19/SE/2020 concerning the prevention of Corona Virus Disease . (Covid-19) at the University of Riau," explained the Chancellor.

"Furthermore, related to the graduation ceremony, the step to postpone the graduation for the period 18-19 March 2020 is considered quite difficult, but based on the results of consideration and input from all elements of the leadership in the Unri environment and observing the decision from the World Health Agency which has declared Covid-19 as a pandemic, then Unri takes steps to prevent the spread and considers the larger interests," explained the Professor of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Unri.
